Corporate Procurement have set up contracts for a wide variety of goods and services and some works on behalf of the city council. These are established by following comprehensive tendering procedures to ensure compliance with the city council's contract procedure rules and EU procurement law. The corporate procurement department also ensure that contracts meet the required specification and furthermore deliver value for money for the council.
A category management approach has recently been introduced whereby responsibility for specific areas of spend have been allocated to named procurement officers this allowing the building of expertise in key procurement areas.
Since January 2011, as part of the Government’s Transparency Agenda, we have been publishing the contracts awarded by the authority.
