Urgent repairs

What would be classed as an emergency repair?
A repair is an emergency when it is considered that there is a danger to life, limb or property.
Examples include:

  • water leaks into and within the structure of the property that can't be contained;
  • loss of electricity supply;
  • blocked flue to open fire or boiler;
  • blocked drains;
  • unsafe structures.

Reporting the emergency
If you find you have an urgent repair which needs reporting out of opening times you should contact the city council's out of hours emergencies service on: 0844 894 0145

Staff there will be able to get workmen to respond to emergency situations that need attention within the next 24 hours. These repairs will include no gas or electric to your property, no central heating, your only toilet not flushing or bursts/leaks in your property.
If you are in any doubt as to whether your repair is an emergency please report it to the city council's Emergency Service. They will advise you whether it is or not and you will not risk any further damage to your property.
