Better Health Better Business Award
Why your business should focus on health?
Evidence shows that there are strong links between employment, individual health and successful companies.
Creating workplaces that protect and promote the health and well-being of employees is a proven way to ensure that your business has its own healthy route to success.
That’s why we’ve developed the Better Health Better Business Award Scheme.
What is the award?
The award covers four key areas that are directly linked to how a business operates and to business health:
- Creating a healthier workplace;
- Creating a safer workplace;
- Creating a fairer workplace; and
- Creating an environmentally friendly workplace.
There are three levels to work towards:
- Silver;
- Gold; and
- Platinum.
This free award is relevant to and achievable by all businesses, of any type and size. However, you must operate from within Stoke-on-Trent.
We hope that this award will help local businesses drive forward and put in place systems that increase business confidence, and create a competitive advantage.
We are very much committed to promoting this award so that local business can gain true recognition for being excellent.
How will it help me?
The benefits for the employee. It will:
- reduce stress, illness and risk of injury;
- increase energy levels; and
- improve self-confidence and overall health.
For the employer they will:
- reduce the number of times employees are off ill;
- reduce employee turnover;
- increase output;
- provide better recruitment; and
- improve the image of the business.
We will reward and publicize the achievements of those workplaces that show excellence in workplace health, and operate fairly and safely.
As the award progresses, those businesses taking part in the scheme, may benefit from a lighter touch inspection. This will be as a result of an increase in the confidence in management.
