For school closures due to extreme weather or other emergencies, we have introduced an online notification process which
will allow parents and carers access to real-time updates on the status of a school.

The decision to close a school is based on:
- local management;
- conditions at the school; and
- the health and safety of staff and pupils.
If a school has to close, information will be made available to parents/carers through the school’s normal communications channels (including the school website) and radio stations.
