City play area enters national competition

The play area on Beverley Drive has been entered into a competition sponsored by Flora to redesign play facilities across the country.

The winning site will receive £30,000, and this would allow the complete refurbishment and resurfacing of the site in Bentilee.

The site is up against 35 others and the winner will be decided by a public vote.

Voting takes place via Facebook at www.flora.com/playground from now until 30 September, one vote is allowed per person, per day until the closing date.

Councillor Ruth Rosenau, cabinet member for regeneration, planning and transportation, said: “This is a great opportunity to win some funding for an important community facility.

“It’s also a chance for people in the area to get involved and throw their support behind the project.”

If Beverley Drive is successful, the improvements would be completed by April 2013.
