Selected households across Stoke-on-Trent will be visited over the coming months to assess the public's understanding of the 2011 Census questionnaire.
Interviewers for the 2011 Census Quality Survey (CQS) will visit homes in the city between Monday May 23 and Friday August 19, 2011.
The Census Quality Survey is a small-sample survey to evaluate the information people have provided on their census returns. The aim is to assess people’s understanding of the questions asked in the Census questionnaire and confirm that the information held by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) is as accurate as possible.
Selected households will be contacted by letter in advance of the interviewer calling. All interviewers will show householders their ID card which carries their name, photo and both 2011 Census and Office for National Statistics logos. They may also ask to come in to the house to ensure the confidentiality of the answers provided but will never ask householders to provide bank details. Members of the public who are unsure about the legitimacy of the interviewer are urged to call the Office for National Statistics survey helpline on 0800 298 5313 to verify their identity.
Each interview will cover questions contained in the Census questionnaire and record your responses. The interviewers will not have access to the information entered on the Census questionnaires but will ask very similar questions on their visit.
Census questionnaire should have been returned by householders on or around March 27 this year.
